Win/loss statements /DraftKings

DraftKings win/loss statement

It is in the Financial Center, alongside the transaction history and the tax documents. Getting it takes a minute. The part worth knowing is how long DraftKings keeps it.

How to get it

  1. 1

    Sign in and open Account

Same path in the app and on the website. DraftKings keeps everything money-related in one place rather than scattering it through settings.

  2. 2

    Open the Financial Center

Inside Account. This opens the Statements and Transactions menu, which is where the win/loss statement, the transaction history and any tax documents all live together.

  3. 3

Choose the statement and the date range

You can narrow it by date, and depending on the product by sport and bet type. Pull the full calendar year first, then narrow if you need to reconcile something.

  4. 4

Download it before you need it

DraftKings typically keeps the current and the previous year available. That is a shorter window than the IRS expects you to be able to produce records for, which is the whole problem with treating an operator export as your archive.

The layout differs slightly by state and DraftKings moves things between releases. If Account does not show a Financial Center, search the help centre for "win/loss statement".

What is in it

Broad across DraftKings products, and blind to everything outside them.

  • ✓ Sportsbook bets placed and settled
  • ✓ DraftKings Casino play
  • ✓ Daily fantasy entries and prizes
  • ✓ Deposits and withdrawals, in Transaction History
  • ✕ Years older than the retention window
  • ✕ Anything played anywhere else

The retention gap

DraftKings holds roughly two years. The IRS generally expects three, sometimes more. A record that disappears before the period it is meant to support is not an archive, it is a convenience, and treating it as the former is how people end up with a deduction they cannot back up.

Questions

How far back does DraftKings keep statements?

Typically the current year and the previous one. The IRS generally expects you to be able to support a return for three years from filing, and longer in some situations. Those two windows do not line up, which means a statement you did not download in time is simply gone. Export every January and store it with the rest of the year's paperwork.

Is the DraftKings win/loss statement a tax document?

It is a report of your activity, not a form filed with the IRS on your behalf. The document that is filed is the W-2G, issued when a single win crosses a federal reporting threshold, and it appears in the same Financial Center area. Treat the win/loss statement as supporting evidence for the play DraftKings could see, and keep your own diary as the record.

Can I separate casino play from sports bets?

Yes, through Transaction History, which sorts by month, by product and by transaction type. This is worth doing before you hand anything to a preparer. A year of small sports bets and a handful of large casino sessions produce very different pictures, and the combined summary flattens both.

The statement does not match my own numbers. Who is wrong?

Usually neither. Operators differ in how they compute the figure, some by session and some by total wagered against total returned, so two statements for identical play will not agree. Add promotional credit, free bets and pending wagers that straddle 31 December and the reconciliation gets worse. If the gap matters, work from Transaction History rather than the summary.

Two years is not long enough

Export the statement every January, and keep your own log underneath it so the year survives the operator deleting its copy.
